The emergence of Emotional Intelligence (EI) as a key
factor in corporate recruitment has led psychologists,
researchers and educationalists to reevaluate their
traditional views of intelligence and to explore ways of
testing and measuring EI dimensions. To date there have
been a number of serious attempts to test and measure EI.
This article aims to consider the areas and dimensions
that comprise the EI concept and presents a new model,
the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (EIQu), which
places individuals into one of twelve sectors on a polar
graph and identifies their strengths and weaknesses on a
range of EI factors. It is envisaged that the EIQu will
become a significant means of measuring EI for the
purposes of psychometric testing, recruitment and
educational psychology. 2006
